Group to wind up 12/13/2011
With several people standing down from the committee, BigVillage has been having great difficulty trying to find people to fill the essential committee positions of Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. At the AGM last Saturday, 10 December, we still did not have enough volunteers to fill these roles. A proposal was put forward for the dissolution of the club and a majority of those present agreed, reluctantly, that this was the only way forward and the proposal to wind-down the group was passed. Therefore it is with regret that I have to inform you that BigVillage Theatre Company will be closing down early next year (2012). The Treasurer and Secretary will remain in post to oversee the winding up the club's affairs with a final closing date set at 31 March 2012. On a more positive note, we propose to hold a final party as a thank you to everyone who has supported BigVillage in one way or another over the years. The event is to be scheduled for some time early 2012. A team of volunteers will organise the party and they will be in touch with present and former members and friends in the near future. IMPORTANT INFO FOR CURRENT MEMBERS: Although you should have also received this information by email please note that if you have a standing order set up to pay your subscription monthly or annually, please cancel it. Thank you for all your support. Add Comment Successful Spring Show 04/08/2011
So the dust has settled after our Spring show and The Crucible was a great success. Despite some trials and tribulations along the way everyone involved pulled together and as a result the four performances at The Bedlam were very well received. Some great acting performances from both established members of the company and some actors new to the group. Hopefully we'll see them again in our future shows ! Financially the show didn't quite manage to break even but only another five people at each show would have been enough to cover our costs so we were nearly there! We'll all just need to work a little bit harder to sell those tickets. Bedlam Theatre Bristo Place, Edinburgh 31 March at 19:30 1st April at 19:30 2nd April at 14:30 2nd April at 19:30 Tickets £8 (£6) available from The Hub Arthur Miller's classic parable of mass hysteria draws a chilling parallel between Salem witch-hunt of 1692 - one of the strangest and most awful chapters in human history - and the McCarthyism which gripped America in the 1950's. The story of how the small community of Salem is stirred into madness by superstition, paranoia and malice, culminating in a violent climax, is a savage attack on the evils of mindless persecution and terrifying power of false accusations First Post! 02/13/2011
